Description

After doing a little more digging, it appears that the java application can be accessed in three places on osx.

/Library/Java/Home?/bin/java
this is a link to /System/Library/Frameworks?/JavaVM.framework/Home/bin/java and is version 1.6.0_65. When one expands the "Home" part of this path, this is actually /System/Library/Frameworks?/JavaVM.framework/Versions/CurrentJDK/Home/bin/java

/usr/bin/java
this is a link to /System/Library/Frameworks?/JavaVM.framework/Versions/Current/Commands/java and is version 1.8.0_71

/Library/Internet?\ Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin?.plugin/Contents/Home/bin/java
and this is version 1.8.0_77

Thus, I would suspect that the best link to use would be "/System/Library/Frameworks?/JavaVM.framework/Versions/Current/Commands/java"
