#466 closed defect (fixed)

Read-only $I2PLOCATION can disable news retrieval

Reported by: killyourtv Owned by: zzz
Priority: minor Milestone: 0.8.7
Component: router/update Version: 0.8.4
Keywords: updates, news Cc: killyourtv
Parent Tickets: Sensitive: no

When the location that I2P is installed to is set to read-only (as it is in Debian/Ubuntu? when installing from .debs, for example), the setting for router.updateThroughProxy is forcibly set to false after clicking the Save button at http://localhost:7657/configupdate, causing the News to no longer be fetched.

Instead of disabling updates through the proxy, the update policy could/should be changed to 'Notify Only' since the News is written to $I2PUSERCONFIG/docs/news.xml—a read/write location.

Fixed in 0.8.6-9. Any user who encountered this bug must go to /configupdate, re-check "update through the eepProxy?", and save to restore news retrieval.
