Since upgrade from 0.9.5 to 0.9.6 had issues with launching I2P under Windows

I run Windows 7 64 bits

Since (automatic) upgrade from 0.9.5 to 0.9.6 (30/05/2013) I had many (10 ?) issues with launching I2P. Even restarting Windows did not fix it.

So many that I decided to uninstall I2P, clean folders from C:\Users\…

Since when reinstalling 0.9.6 "clean" this morning, I did not have any of these issue.

I click "Start I2P (no window)", the HDD run, in the Windows 7 task manager I see the process "Javaw.exe", then the I2P process, and less then 10 seconds later, the I2P process stops.

Before to uninstall I did a ZIP file of C:\Program Files\I2P, and C:\Users\…\I2P

If you want it, ask me.

Did you perhaps upgrade Java recently and/or switch from a 32bit java to 64bit java (or vice versa)? Do you have logs from that time? Without having the logs we'd only be able to guess what the problem was.

If I was to guess, I think it's probable that I2P was installed with a JRE of $X bitness but later the JRE was switched to another bitness.

For example:

Installed with 64bit JRE, causing the 64bit wrapper to be installed. $LATER the JRE is switched to a 32bit one. Since 32bit binaries can't load 64bit binaries (the wrapper), I2P would fail to load.

..but as said above, without the logs I can only guess.

My Windows is fresh install (april 2013, installed a on clean HDD). I think the Java software was not auto-updated since that.

Here are (attached) the log files I found (not sure about what files I was searching for).

Almost all the errors I can find are JVM_Bind issues with port 7654 (and others), which indicates that an I2P router was already running.

My guess is that I2P was running as a service, and the manual instance (from clicking "Start I2P (no window)") was conflicting. amund1h, were any other java.exe processes running at the time?

Ticket #741 would really help in these situations.
